Mom’s Toy Review: Buzz on Vibes Reviews Sliquid Sassy
This is our next installment of “Mom’s Toy Review” where I will post sex toy reviews from moms who write about their experiences with Babeland’s sex toys on their own sites.
Sliquid has a great line of high-quality lubricants. All of their products are glycerin free, paraben free, and vegan friendly, with no animal testing. Ideal for anyone with sensitive skin, Sliquid offers water-based, silicone, and water/silicone hybrid lubes.
Sliquid Sassy Booty is a water-based, thick gel lube designed for anal play. I have somewhat sentimental feelings for Sliquid since their H2O was the first glycerin-free lubricant I tried. I was so relieved to finally find a product that worked without causing any irritation or yeast infections, and that single bottle of Sliquid H2O opened up a whole new world of lubrication possibilities for me. My one gripe about Sliquid H2O is the thin, almost runny consistency. The Sassy Booty formula takes care of that as it’s a nice thick gel that stays put.
There are only four ingredients: Purified Water, Plant Cellulose, Polyquat 007, and DMDM Hydantoin. The clear plastic bottle has a cute, feminine label, and a handy flip-top cap (although I typically prefer a pump). While the label clearly states that this is an “intimate gel” and has the words “booty formula” printed on the front, the packaging is discreet enough to pass as a skin care or bath product at first glance. There is a very slight scent to this lube, but you really have to put your nose right up to the bottle and take a big whiff to notice. I don’t really know how describe it, other than being a “clean” smell. I could not detect any kind of taste, which is really nice because sometimes unflavored lubes can be bitter. Lube is essential for any type of anal play since, unlike the vagina, there is no natural lubrication back there. I typically prefer using silicone-based lubes for anal play whenever possible since they last longer and don’t dry out. However, silicone-based lube is incompatible with silicone sex toys, so it’s a good idea to have an effective water-based lube on hand to use with them.
I first tested Sliquid Sassy Booty during manual masturbation, and I have to admit I was rather disappointed in how quickly it seemed to dry out on me. Like most water-based lubes, you can “reactivate” it with a little bit of water, but I found that thinned it down, and I prefer the thicker, gel-like consistency. So, I ended up reapplying quite frequently. Moving on to vaginal penetration and intercourse, the lube lasted a longer time before reapplication was necessary. I suppose this is due to the fact that my body was producing its own lubrication as well. Plus, while I was masturbating my skin was openly exposed to the air with the ceiling fan going overhead, so I think that may have caused the lube to dry out more quickly. I also used this lube with several different sex toys, materials ranging from hard plastic to silicone to metal. As would be expected, the hard plastic and metal hardly required much lube, whereas the silicone took a bit more initially and required reapplication.
As for anal play, the Sliquid Sassy Booty performed very well for a water-based lube. The viscosity is just right, and it was great for inserting my metal butt plug. I just needed to add a little bit more lube when I was ready to take it out. Since there is more friction involved with anal intercourse, frequent lube reapplication was necessary, especially when I was in doggie-style position with most of my pertinent parts exposed to air. The thicker consistency of this lube, combined with the fact that water reactivates it, means that some extra rinsing is involved for clean up. Since I opt to reapply the lube instead of adding water, when I first go to wash it off it goes all slippery before washing away, but a few extra seconds with some soap and water is a small sacrifice to make when it comes to having a high-quality water-based lube.
