Blogher Inspiration with Instagram Photos

I had the amazing opportunity to attend Blogher11, a conference of women bloggers from all over the world, held August 4-6 in San Diego. I’m excited to share with you some of the highlights, including throwing a little shindig with the help of Sandy, social networking and sex information goddess extraordinaire, from toywithme.com. Sandy inspired this entire adventure, which started off with a party at the Lounge SD (see our tempting invite).

The Party

When our guests arrived, Sandy told them all about the raffle and the toys we had to give away, while I greeted them with fruit, pretzels and Babeland’s Edible Body Chocolate. We had a great group of about 50 women from all realms of blogging, all excited to discover Babeland. You could say we kicked off the conference with a buzz!

We played a penis candy necklace eating game, gave away a some awesome swag and prizes and talked a lot about sex blogging and what Babeland has to offer. The tweeting – instagraming – social networking goddesses at the party even gave us our own hash tag #makedildosnotwar based on the Tantus buttons that we passed out: Read the full post »

Quack, Squeak, Hop: Vibes for Moms With a Sense of Humor

Tell me what you think about these crazy kid-like vibes in the comment field below and enter to win a Yooo, a $119 value!

When I was a new mom, I remember being outraged by what my academic friend referred to as the “infantilization of motherhood.” For those B students like me, that is a fancy way of saying that mothers get marketed to as if they are the child,  not the adult. For example, I went to buy a diaper bag–one’s defacto purse for 2 years–and all of them had duckies on them (in 14 years this has changed alot; now I could have a diaper bag designed by celebrity mom Heidi Klum herself!).

So when I first encountered toys like the Duckie Vibe, which is exactly like what it sounds–a vibrating rubber duck, I experienced a sort of horror by association. I didn’t need something to look like a duck to get me off now that I was a mom, I could own my adult desires and proudly wank away with phallic-shaped toys if I wanted to! Read the full post »

This Mother’s Day, Our Moms Tell All!

In honor of mother’s day, we’re paying homage to the sexual journeys of our mothers. We at Babeland asked our moms to tell us what they learned about sex growing up, and how that helped or hindered their ability to talk to their own kids about sex. We’ll run their stories here.

We invite you, if you’re a mom, (or are even just the cool, approachable older adult to some lucky kid), to tell us how your own sexual upbringing has influenced your relationship with your kids. Or if you’re another writer, please send us your story or link to this thread on Moms in Babeland. We’ll draw a winner at random on June 1, from all the posts and links we receive from now till the end of May, and send the lucky recipient a well-reviewed MiMi vibrator.

Here are a few questions you can answer, or you can send your mom:
